The Right-Wing Evangelical Church in Fair Oaks next Sunday will host
a talk by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Matthew Gary.

In reaction to the recent US Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage, controversial Sacramento Superior Court Judge Matthew Gary will give a talk next Sunday on the effects of homosexuality on children. 

"How the homos harm kids" is the title of a speech Gary will give at the Right-Wing Ideologue Evangelical Church in Fair Oaks, according to a press release from Gary's publicist and court clerk Christina Arcuri.

"The Supreme Court decision in Obergefell v. Hodges is an outrage, and an outrage that will have far-ranging consequences," Gary is expected to rant. "The legalization of same-sex marriage will cause irreparable harm to countless children throughout the United States. As a family court judge, I am an unimpeachable authority on this subject," Gary will rightly point out. "These gay homos are criminalizing Christianity and the beliefs of Evangelicals and someone must make a stand."

Sacramento Superior Court Corruption: 2014 the Year of the Disgruntled Litigant - Holiday Edition RoadDog Satire

In this YouTube video from the Times Leader newspaper in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania, Judge Mark Ciavarella is confronted by Sandy Fonzo during his federal criminal prosecution for racketeering, deprivation of the right to honest services, and other charges. Fonzo attributes the suicide of her teenage son to Ciavarella's criminal conduct in the Luzerne County Pa., Kids for Cash scandal. 

Sacramento Family Court reform advocates assert that similar charges against judges, employees and the judge pro tem attorney "cartel" are warranted. The deaths of 9-year-old Matthew Hernandez and 8-month-old Ryder Salmen have been blamed on Judge Sharon Lueras. Other cases with high conflict child custody disputes, including parents Andrew Karres, Susan Ferris, and Robert Saunders involve extreme economic disparities between the parties. 

In all three, the wealthy parent has paid significant sums to effectively terminate the parental rights of the economically weaker parent. In all three, the wealthy parent is represented by a judge pro tem attorney or firm. Court watchdogs assert that these, and similar cases show the court operates its own version of the Pennsylvania Kids for Cash system, and deprives the public of the federally protected right to honest government services.   

New Legislation Needed in 2014 to Curtail the Incidence of Disgruntled Litigants

The screeching harpy in the video above is Sandy Fonzo. Do. Not. Read. This. until you watch the video. Sandy Fonzo is a disgruntled litigant. Fonzo is disgruntled because her teenage son took his own life after being traumatized in a privately run juvenile detention facility in Luzerne County Pennsylvania. 

An all-star wrestler, her son was sentenced to the facility by Judge Mark Ciavarella, who, it turned out, received $997,600 from the developer who built the private juvenile detention facility. Sandy Fonzo and other disgruntled litigants joined forces and tricked the federal government into investigating Judge Ciavarella, his buddy Judge Michael Conahan, and their cohorts in government and the private sector.

Newly enacted Family Code § 3050 authorizes self-help remedies in Sacramento Family Court 

cases meeting a specific criteria.

The California Legislature last week authorized a unique, jurisdiction-specific set of self-help remedies in family court cases which meet a designated criteria. To meet the criteria, a family court case must originate in the State Capitol jurisdiction of Sacramento County. 

In addition, the parties to the case must consist of an unrepresented, indigent or financially disadvantaged litigant against an opposing party represented by a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association Family Law Section who also serves as a judge pro tem in the same court, or works at a law firm with a judge pro tem. The criteria also requires issuance of a "no contact" child custody order prohibiting the unrepresented litigant from all contact with the child or children of the parties.

Sacramento Family Court News is pleased to announce that legendary director, writer and producer Steven Spielberg has authorized SFCN exclusively to use a clip from his award winning movie Lincoln. 

SFCN requested use of the segment for news and educational purposes, and to illustrate the origins of the constitutional right of equal protection of law. In the Lincoln excerpt, Congressional leader Thaddeus Stevens makes an impassioned speech for the then-controversial proposition that all men should be treated equally before the law. Stevens is portrayed by Academy Award winning actor Tommy Lee Jones. 20th Century Fox initially made a copyright claim to prohibit use of the clip, but withdrew the objection after learning of the barbaric, anything-but-equal treatment of unrepresented, financially disadvantaged litigants in Sacramento Family Court. 

"We are grateful to Mr. Spielberg and FOX for allowing us to use the compelling reenactment of this historically important speech," said SFCN corporate counsel Vincent Gambini. "It is repugnant that more than 150 years after Stevens' speech, we still need to be reminded of this bedrock principle of American Democracy. Sacramento Family Court judges, administrators, the Family Law Facilitator, and other court employees act as if they've never heard that all court users, rich and poor alike, are entitled to be treated equally before the law."

"Furillo has a history of avoiding or whitewashing coverage of corrupt judges, court officials and lawyers in exchange for insider access and courthouse story leads. He writes over 200 stories a year, and you can't do that kind of volume without an army of sources," said family court watchdog Ulf Carlsson. "It's unethical but he gets away with it because his wife, Deb Anderluh, is one of his bosses at the Bee. Furillo was going to bury the Appelblatt story until the T.V. stations made it public and he had to write something, so he portrayed Appelblatt as just a rogue attorney, and covered up his status as a judge pro tem," Carlsson asserted. "Look at the [court whistleblower] Emily Gallup case. Furillo ignored the Gallup lawsuit - including the week-long trial and $313,000 verdict - which went on for more than a year in Sacramento County Superior Court. The government did not want that case in the news, and Furillo made sure it wasn't." P.R. Brown, my esteemed colleague on the news and analysis side of the newsroom, has recently published a series of articles that some readers may have found unsettling. 

Court administrators flagrantly ignoring state law, the Family Law Facilitator dispensing less-than-accurate advice to indigent, unrepresented litigants, family court judges concealing conflicts of interest, and an appeals unit clerk unlawfully rejecting appeals by lawyer-less, financially disadvantaged litigants. And the ongoing Color of Law series is particularly compelling. Bravo, P.R. Brown. 

But while these muckraking revelations may disturb the Constitution-huggers among our readership, RoadDog's exclusive access to the Sacramento Family Court News newsroom allows the Dog to go behind the news to retrieve the exposé within the exposé. A superficial review of the meticulously documented facts reported by P.R. Brown may convey to the gullible the impression of rampant illegality, cronyism, hometowning, fraud, corruption, malfeasance, willful omission to perform duty, and gross misconduct, incompetency and inefficiency. 

Several paranoid, tin foil hat wearing readers have even suggested that the totality of the evidence reported by SFCN suggests that Sacramento Family Court operates as an organized criminal enterprise, meeting the elements required for a federal RICO prosecution. However, on closer inspection, and with supplemental facts purloined by RoadDog from the encrypted SFCN servers, the complete factual record reveals a dramatically different picture.

"I did do some research, Your Honor, and I can't find anything exactly on point." Judge pro tem attorney Paula Salinger.

You can't fault veteran family law attorney and sworn temporary judge Paula Salinger for trying: The marquee partner at Woodruff, O'Hair, Posner & Salinger recently attempted to con a family court judge into holding a trial and signing a final divorce order while the same case was by law on hold pending an appeal of a set of prior orders. With a few exceptions, it's a high school-level principle of law that an appeal halts trial court proceedings until the appellate court is finished.

RoadDog was leaked the complete, comical court reporter's transcript from the trial FAIL where Salinger attempts to claim a 2008 appellate court decision from a probate case authorized the divorce to be finalized, despite the pending appeal. As The Dog suspected, the court record showed Salinger's opponent didn't have a lawyer: a self-respecting attorney would be embarrassed to try the same stunt against a fellow member of the State Bar. 

In the trial transcript, the judge pro tem attorney confessed to the judge that she was unable to find any case law "exactly on point" to justify the wacky request, but that the probate case she did find, Gridley v. Gridley, was close enough.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon formally served Court Executive Officer Edward Pollard Christina Volkers a criminal indictment detailing by family court judges multiple violations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

"The substandard conditions here in Sacramento County Family Court defy belief," Ki-moon said. "Almost all Third-World countries operate family court systems which ensure the basic human rights of litigants. This court does not come close to doing so. The rampant cronyism between Sacramento Family Court judges and attorneys associated with the Sacramento County Bar Association Family Law Section conclusively establishes that the court operates as an organized criminal enterprise," Ki-moon charged. "We have come to hold them accountable for their actions."

Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye - formerly known as a 3rd District Court of Appeal justice and Sacramento County Superior Court judge - is the new chief justice of the Supreme Court of California. At the appellate court, the former prosecutor showed no mercy for the 70 percent of indigent family court litigants without attorneys who attempted appeals from Sacramento Family Court.

Thanks Arnold: On Monday a new chief justice of the California Supreme Court was sworn in. Compliments of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the new CJ is the ethically-challenged Tani Gorre Cantil-Sakauye, a former Sacramento County Family Court judge. 

Tani has been knee-deep in the documented Sacramento Family Court corruption that began in the early 1990's, and has run unchecked ever since. After her elevation to the Third District Court of Appeal in 2005, she partnered with other Sacramento County Superior Court and Deukmejian administration alumni - including Art Scotland and George Nicholson - to keep a lid on the continuing scandals generated by her former coworkers across town. 

Tani, Art and George all come from a law enforcement background and culture, and rode to the bench exploiting their faux tough-on-crime credentials. In published, and especially unpublished 3rd District decisions, the trio have shown they still swear allegiance to the cop Blue Code of Silence. Any appeal with a claim that a Sacramento Family Court homie committed misconduct is whitewashed with two coats. 

During Cantil-Sakauye's ticket-punching tour at the 3rd, the appellate court's hostility to appeals by the 70 percent of family court litigants who can't afford lawyers was legendary. Due to the hurdles thrown up by the court, few appeals were ever decided on the merits, and no family court appeal was ever won by a financially disadvantaged, unrepresented litigant who faced off against an attorney.
